![]() I only have Win 7 Home 32bit and 64bit on 2 DVD's. I don't have a copy of Win 10 ether on a USB flash drive or on DVD to do a clean install with. But there comes a time, it is just not fixable. It is better then sitting on my butt playing computer games or watching tv day after day in retirement. The pawn shop owner knows I like to tinker. I now know why I got it free from the pawn shop. I can't turn csm on if it is not available. I REPEAT there is NO, NO legacy/csm to turn on, it just isn't there. I have never had the need to make or use a bootable USB drive because the sys's that I have had always booted fine from the optical drive. And this is my 1st time making a bootable USB drive. ![]() If I hadn't got the Asus for the best price possible (free) I wouldn't be messing with it. The bios sees the optical drive and I swapped the optical drive with the Dell laptop (same drive in both) The optical drive is fine. The Asus will only boot from a USB drive or the HDD, it will not boot from the optical drive period. Also the bios setup is a pain in the neck. The Asus I have to take off the whole top cover to get at the HDD, the memory is soldered onto the motherboard, the main battery is hard wired in, it can't be removed the battery for a cold reboot and the keyboard is permanently mounted into the top cover with a very thin and cheaply made ribbon cable that tears very easily. ![]() I like the Dell a lot better then the Asus. My primary system is a Dell Inspiron 15-3541, maxed out on memory, 500gig internal HDD, and an other 500gig HDD in an external USB case. When I get the Asus laptop working 100% I am going to sell it. Porthos the Asus laptop that I am working on is not my primary system.
